Well hello there Mr. Cow, am I in your way?

Today I had some free time so I went on a short landscape excursion to see what I could see.  I soon came across this lovely field that had some quit astounding clouds above it, so I hopped the fence and set up my 4x5 camera.  Well as luck would have it the clouds were moving quickly and by the time I composed, focused, and metered my exposure the clouds were gone.

This is what I got anyway

The Field II

As soon as I took the exposure in the corner of my eye I saw a cow approaching me, which I wasn't really worried about it until it started shaking it's head violently and trotting around in a circle.  I quickly packed up my gear just as this cow started heading towards me and I hightailed it out of there. I guess that is what I get for trespassing.

More Large Format

I am loving my 4x5 camera! For a 60 year old machine it is working splendidly!

More Fun With Film

Went out last weekend and shot more film, but this time I shot a roll of Kodak BW400CN. Technically this is a C-41 film, but I crossed processed it with my regular B&W process. It came out alright, but I like Tmax way better than this stuff. Anyway here are some of the results.

I think this is my favorite of the batch.

...or maybe this one?

C&C welcome.

Film Film Film

Recently I have re-discovered how much I enjoy film. When I first started learning photography I only had an analog camera, and that is what I learned with for about a year. Once I had the cash I bought my DSLR and didn't touch my analog until recently when I discovered how to develop my own film.

After doing some research I discovered that, In my option, the best and easiest developed to use was Diafine. This stuff, first off, is super easy to use and is extremely forgiving in both developing time and temperature. As long as you develop it somewhere between 70 and 80 degrees and over 3 minutes you are golden.

After I had my chemicals and shot a roll of b&w film, the new Tmax 400 pushed to 800, it was time to developed it. Well living in a dorm i do not have access to a dark room, and i did not want to buy a dark bag, so i made my own dark room, under my desk...

Here she is in all her pride and glory.

The "darkroom" was cramped and uncomfortable, but it got the job done. Once I had the film in the development tank the total time of development was about 15 minuets not that bad at all.

I currently don't have a film scanner so for now I have been taking pictures of the negatives with my digital, I know it defeats the entire purpose, and working them into positives in photoshop. I also have some E-6 slide film and im looking for a development kit, so if you know any place that sells one please let me know. Anyway here are the results from this batch.

Do You See What I See?

Well in between studying for finals I decided to have an impromptu self-pourtrait session, which later turned into playing with lighting techniques. Anyway, I have been working with film recently, and while my Canon New F-1 was on the tripod I had this idea...

Vesuvius, Fire of Fire

Recently I went to a Sufjan Stevens concert where they played their song Vesuvius, off of their album The Age of Adz. After Listing to the explanation of the song and their performance of it live, it inspired me to revisit some of my photographs I took this summer while at Philmont. Anyway this is what I came up with.

I know the quality is not that great, but that's what you get with a crappy film scanner. Oh well.

You can listen to the song here --> Sufjan Stevens - Vesuvius

I took this over the summer when I went backpacking for 10 days out in the back country of New Mexico know as Philmont. This is a 3 shot panoramic that i took with my Nikon FE. Im a Canon fanboy, but i wasn't going to risk my 50D, or mint condition F1 out there.

Alright ill talk to ya soon!
